Get ready to step into a world where space is no longer a constraint, and style meets comfort! Follow along as homeowner Ya Ya, with the help of Kelly's eloquent narration, unveils her 23-ping (approximately 76 square meters) American-style abode, which has captured the hearts of 6,643 admirers. This rejuvenated old house, previously an office space with a dark, damp vibe, has been transformed into a bright and airy vacation-like home. Let's embark on this "unboxing" journey!
Initial State of the House: The space, once an office with a tiny kitchen and bathroom, had become a storage room over time. Facing issues like water leakage and wall dampness, Ya Ya knew it was time to call in the professionals to breathe new life into this long-unused space.
Finding the Perfect Designer: After scouring through 100 Interior Design platforms and contacting several firms, Ya Ya chose Qiyu Space Design, impressed by their prompt response and satisfying preliminary plans.
Renovation Wishlist:
Bright and Minimalist Space: Ya Ya envisioned a predominantly white interior with wooden accents to evoke a relaxed, vacation-like vibe. Consistency in color schemes across all spaces was crucial.
Spacious Public Area: Emphasizing communal living spaces, the bedroom needed to be just cozy enough for rest, with more focus on an open living area.
Open-Plan Kitchen and Dining: A fully-functional large kitchen with an island doubling as a dining table was on the wishlist, perfect for hosting friends and family.
Ample Storage: As a blogger, Ya Ya needed extensive storage for clothes, makeup, and skincare products.
Floor Plan Transformation: Maintaining the original layout of the kitchen and bathroom, the bedroom partition was removed to create a larger living space. The kitchen was moved to the center, merging with the living and dining area, while the former kitchen area became a storage room. A dressing room was also added in the master bedroom.
Post-Renovation Reveal:
Entryway: Featuring white walls and warm wooden flooring, the entrance sets the tone for the house. The extended ceiling with wooden beams adds to the spacious feel. Ample storage is discreetly built into the entryway walls.
Living Room: The 90-degree rotating TV wall is a clever feature, allowing viewing from both the living room and the kitchen island. Open shelving with storage baskets keeps everything organized and accessible.
Study: The rotating TV wall also cleverly doubles as a partition for a private workspace when needed.
Dining and Kitchen: The all-white kitchen with an island and two appliance cabinets is both beautiful and practical. The splashback features an easy-to-clean lacquered glass panel.
Master Bedroom & Dressing Room: Simple yet functional, with a system wardrobe added for ample storage.
Bathroom: The washbasin was relocated outside the bathroom, with a long countertop and an integrated sink for convenience. A half-wall with a glass partition separates the shower area.
Living Experience: After nearly a year of residing in her dream home, Ya Ya feels her time spent researching and discussing ideas with the designer paid off. The house, tailored to her lifestyle and preferences, has become her haven. With natural light flooding every corner, it's also become the perfect backdrop for her blogging photoshoots.
