34-Ping Cozy Modern Home Transformation

Design Focus & Layout Plan: Located in Keelung, a city known for its frequent rain, the decision to forego a traditional ceiling for an unobstructed flow of air and light is ingenious. Instead, a concealed dehumidifier is installed to maintain a dry and comfortable interior. The living room, dining area, and study are designed openly without excessive cabinetry, emphasizing a bright and spacious public area. The kitchen, equipped with Takara Standard Japanese kitchenware and an added island for appliance storage, also contributes to this open feel.

Entrance Design: The entrance is welcoming, with lively floor tiles chosen by the lady of the house and a pegboard wall for hanging bags and coats. The door's orientation was cleverly altered for easier access and a more expansive visual effect.

Living Room Design: The half-height TV wall, painted with artistic texture, enhances the room's layered look. Given the excellent natural lighting, this design choice avoids blocking light and maintains a connection with the study, creating a light, unoppressive atmosphere.

Study Design: The semi-open study, located just behind the TV wall, allows for interaction between the man of the house working there and the rest of the family. Cabinets along the wall meet storage and display needs without compromising the space’s openness.

Dining and Kitchen Design: The original kitchen windows were replaced with larger glass windows and shelves instead of upper cabinets to avoid obstructing the view. The central island serves as an extended countertop and additional storage space. The range hood is cleverly concealed and painted to maintain a sleek look.

Master Bedroom & Bathroom Design: The apartment features concealed doors for a clean, streamlined look. The bathroom sports a vibrant floor and a glass door for a dry/wet separation. The master bedroom's circular design ensures smooth movement.

Final Thoughts: The designers at Mu Qi Space Design emphasize the importance of leaving ample open space in the interior. This approach ensures that residents can unwind and de-stress upon returning home, free from the constraints of a cramped environment.

This renovation beautifully illustrates how thoughtful design can turn an older apartment into a modern, restorative sanctuary. 🌿🛋️
