A Bohemian Oasis: Transforming a 20-Ping Apartment into a Cozy Retreat

A young couple, fond of skiing and reading, found their ideal abode in a 20-ping second-hand house, conveniently located near a high-speed rail station. Their vision was a home with ample storage for their skiing gear and a myriad of books, all wrapped in a soothing beige tone with a touch of bohemian charm. Let's explore how Yujiri Design brought their dream to life in this heartwarming sanctuary.

Layout & Design Focus:

  • Working with the existing ceiling and floor design, the team had to integrate the couple's preferences with the original color palette.

  • A mix of materials like wood grain, cotton linen, and rattan, along with large swathes of paint, were used to create a warm, bohemian atmosphere filled with intricate details.

  • The living room, kitchen, and study were fitted with cabinets of varying depths to accommodate kitchen appliances, snowboards, clothing, and more, offering a practical yet elegant bohemian flair.

Entrance & Kitchen Island:

  • The entrance features a wooden lattice that creates a dust-proof buffer zone, offering a unique layering effect and resolving the direct view into the living room from the entrance.

  • An additional island was added to the kitchen, with pull-out electrical cabinets underneath, extending the countertop space and doubling as a mini-bar.

Living & Dining Area:

  • The living area boasts a cohesive look with wooden cabinets that appear lighter due to their floating design.

  • Opting against the traditional sofa and coffee table setup, the area was transformed into a multifunctional space for working and dining, with a long table and couch.

  • The TV wall and sofa back wall were painted in a warm, mineral paint to add texture and warmth to the space.

Master Bedroom:

  • The master bedroom exudes warmth and relaxation with a full wooden headboard and beige walls.

  • A long desk and wooden shelves by the entrance cater to reading and working needs, offering a peaceful haven for the couple.

Study Room:

  • The study doubles as a dressing area for the lady of the house, featuring open and closed cabinets in varying shades for a versatile wardrobe and storage solution.

In this 20-ping apartment, Yujiri Design masterfully blended functionality with aesthetic appeal, creating a space that is not only efficient but also a true reflection of the couple's lifestyle and tastes. This transformation is a testament to the power of thoughtful design in crafting a home that truly feels like a personal retreat.
