A Peek into a Light Wabi-Sabi Japanese Home

Ellen takes us into the world of a young couple who, along with their cat, have transformed a 53-ping space into a Japanese-style haven. The challenge? To create an open, comfortable space for both humans and feline, without sacrificing storage or style. The Eight Treasures Space Aesthetics design team stepped in to work their magic.

Layout Makeover The original cramped entryway got a much-needed facelift, expanding the dust area and upping the shoe storage game. A room facing the stairwell became the perfect spot for extra storage, keeping privacy in check. The public area got an open-plan treatment, blending the kitchen, dining, and living areas seamlessly, perfect for the couple's frequent social gatherings. Nearby, a three-separation bathroom layout was chosen for convenience.

Dining and Kitchen Area With a penchant for hosting, the couple needed a dining space that could handle a crowd. An open-plan kitchen with an island-cum-dining table does just that. The nearby bathroom features a relocated washbasin for an easier flow. The island doubles as a light meal prep area and electric appliance storage, with dedicated circuits to avoid any power trip drama.

Living Room & Study Area As home office enthusiasts, the couple wanted a space that didn't compromise the open feel. A simple partition does the trick, dividing without closing off. The area stays true to the Japanese theme with wood and white tones, accented by grey and special paints for a touch of light wabi-sabi.

Bedroom Bliss The wardrobe in the bedroom, lacking natural light, gets a revamp with long rainbow glass, balancing privacy and illumination.

Bathroom Bonanza A new main bathroom means custom planning with dual sinks and a bathtub. The water pipes and floor elevation were carefully planned to maintain a consistent visual flow.

The Unseen Details "Hidden line lights soften the oppressive feel of beams and provide a gentle indoor glow. The cabinets are suspended with integrated line lights, all connected to a single switch, creating a consistent and soft illumination throughout the home." - Eight Treasures Space Aesthetics

And there you have it! A perfect blend of practicality and Japanese minimalist beauty, proving that with a bit of creative thinking, you can have your cat, your friends, and your storage too! đŸ±đŸ‘«đŸ’Œ
