My Home Doubled in Size: Unboxing a 20-Ping Korean-Style Milk Tea House! ☕🏠✨

🗝️ Homeowner's Intro 🗝️ Finally, we gave our humble abode a much-needed facelift! After living here for years, we knew exactly what we needed. Teaming up with a designer, we turned our place into a gorgeous Korean-style milk tea dream. Check out my big reveal! 🎉

🔍 Chapter 1: The Backstory 🔍 Bought this place pre-pandemic, thinking "Early bird gets the nest!" Budget was tight, so we moved in without any fancy decor. Fast forward two years, our storage was screaming SOS, and our random furniture collection looked like a jumbled jigsaw puzzle. Time to save up and give our home some TLC!

🖌️ Chapter 2: Designer Hunt 🖌️ A quick Google led us to a designer recommended by our community - Sunny Yi-Shen Design. Loved their work, especially the central island tables and glass study rooms. Designer Xiao Bai was a gem - friendly and really tuned into our wishes. Contract? Signed!

📐 Chapter 3: Our Wishlist & Blueprint 📐

Before & After

Being in this house for two years, we had a clear wishlist:

  1. Wanted a hexagonal tile dust zone at the entrance.

  2. We're TV-dinner people. So, a central island instead of a traditional dining table? Yes, please!

  3. Always dreamed of a glass study - bye-bye, boring walls!

  4. The master bedroom was a closet-less nightmare. The designer's solution? Merge it with the study!

  5. We're proud cat parents. Needed a litter box solution that didn't turn the living room into a sandy mess.

  6. Gadget overload meant a serious need for more sockets and cable management.

  7. Longing for a Korean milk tea vibe with curvy elements.

🚧 Chapter 4: The Makeover 🚧

Electrical and plumbing got a redo, and so did the ceiling. The dark doors didn't fit our milk tea theme, so we swapped them for white. The study got a revamp with wooden partitions and curvy, glassy elegance.

🎉 Chapter 5: The Grand Reveal 🎉

👢 Entrance Design Hexagonal tiles finally give it a proper entrance feel. No space for a console table, so keys go in the dining side cabinet.

👟 Shoe Cabinet Curved edges make it look less boxy, more chic. A hidden door masks the electrical box, leading to the shoe (and clutter) cabinet and TV wall.

🍴 Dining Area Design Our Korean-simple and milk tea style demanded curves everywhere, even on the central island and side cabinets. We always knew we needed these two pieces – for storage and aesthetics.

📺 Living Room Design The ceiling got a curvy makeover too. It softens the lighting and adds character, especially around the structural column.

🛋️ The sofa was a keeper from the old setup. Now, the window-side litter cabinet doubles as a cozy nook for our fur babies.

📚 Study Design The glass study was a game changer! It made our home feel bigger, brighter, and just amazing!

🛏️ Bedroom Design Finally, a big closet in the master bedroom! We even got a dehumidifier fitted in. No more wardrobe marathons to the other room!

💭 Chapter 6: Post-Makeover Thoughts 💭 Though it cost a pretty penny, absolutely no regrets! The house feels unified, tidy, and more spacious with the glass study. Pro tip: Don't skimp on outlets, and hide those cables! A beautiful home can't be ruined by pesky wires. Oh, and ventilated shoe cabinets – wish I'd thought of that sooner!

That's my unboxing story! Wishing everyone smooth sailing in home-buying and decorating! 🏡🍀🔑
