No False Ceilings, No Full Cabinets: My Spacious 23-Ping Japanese-Style Teahouse Haven 🍵🏡

Once upon a time, in a 25-year-old home shrouded in darkness and beset by termites, a dream team of youthful designers from RIBAI Design waved their magic wands, transforming it into a cozy Japanese sanctuary using wood and creamy tones. Let's dive into this heartwarming tale of renovation, complete with insider tips and tricks! 🌟

The Quest for the Perfect Designer 🕵️‍♀️ Our journey began in the murky waters of recommendations and endless scrolls through design forums. Facing the daunting task of reviving an old home, we stumbled upon RIBAI Design. Despite their youthful vibe (which had us second-guessing 🤔), their attention to the tiniest details of our life, like counting our shoes and gauging our wardrobe, revealed their seasoned expertise. Sold by their meticulousness, we entrusted them with our nest.

Before the Magic Happened 🏚️ ➡️ 🏡 Our soon-to-be haven was a cramped, 23-ping oldie with a penchant for the dark arts (of poor lighting) and a labyrinth of unnecessary walls. Our wishlist was hefty - a sturdy foundation, ample storage for our bibliophilic needs, and a bug-free zone, all wrapped in a minimalist Japanese aesthetic.

The Transformation Spell ✨ Waving goodbye to the old, we embraced a spacious layout that merged the living, dining, and study areas into one grand, welcoming space. Special attention was given to the kitchen and bathroom to ensure a seamless wet-and-dry experience, enhancing both safety and comfort.

Peeking into the Enchanted Home 🚪

  • Living Room: The heart of our home now breathes freedom and comfort, adorned with indirect lighting and a TV unit that's more than just a place to binge-watch. Our extensive collection of books and knick-knacks found a home in a custom-built storage unit, cleverly designed to display our treasures without cluttering the space.

  • Dining Area: Our dining spot, simple yet elegant with wooden furniture, is a testament to the beauty of minimalism. The nearby storage room, a clever addition, not only hides our bulky appliances but also features a nifty little nook for our robotic vacuum to retreat to after a hard day's work. 🤖

  • Kitchen: Opting for a closed kitchen to keep the gremlins (aka cooking fumes) at bay, we chose a white and stainless steel palette for an effortlessly chic and low-maintenance space.

  • Master Bedroom: A sanctuary within a sanctuary, our master bedroom is a soft-lit haven of tranquility, with ample storage to keep our wardrobes happy and organized.

  • Kids' Room: Designed with future-proofing in mind, this adaptable space features innovative solutions like a rotating door to ensure ventilation and privacy - a stroke of design genius that left us in awe!

Happily Ever After 🌈 Fast forward four months, and our home is everything we dreamed of and more. While others shared horror stories of renovations gone wrong, our journey with RIBAI Design was a breeze, a testament to their dedication and craftsmanship. If fairy godmothers in the world of renovation exist, we found ours in RIBAI Design. And they lived happily ever after, indeed! 🏡💖
