One Wall Change, Double the Storage: 27-Ping Japandi Home Transformation Revealed!

Miss Hsu embarked on her first-ever home decor adventure with her trusted designer, Stephanie from Centimeter Design. They took a 30-year-old house and turned it into a Japandi-style haven of simplicity and comfort. It's like they waved a magic wand and poof! Out came a home so cozy, Miss Hsu barely wants to step outside!

The Decor Journey Begins Living in separate homes while dating, Miss Hsu and her husband-to-be decided to create their shared nest. Facing the daunting prospect of a mortgage, they opted to revamp an old family home instead. After all, why buy new when you can transform what you've got into something spectacular?

Their Design Wishlist

  1. Style & Color: Miss Hsu's heart was set on Wabi-Sabi and Nordic styles in milky tea tones, while her hubby preferred modern minimalism and grey marble.

  2. Essentials: A complete redo of the 30-year-old electrical and plumbing, plus top-notch waterproofing (because nobody likes surprise indoor rain).

  3. Living Room: A big, comfy TV wall for Miss Hsu's lounge times.

  4. Height Matters: A solution for the low-hanging beam - hubby is a towering 183cm!

  5. Storage Galore: For their surfboards, bikes, and assorted knick-knacks, a well-organized storage room was a must.

The Transformation Stephanie worked her designer magic, smoothing out odd angles and creating a

seamless, spacious feel. The entrance got a swanky new storage room, the kitchen expanded, and the main bathroom swapped its tub for a sleek, safety-enhanced shower.

The Final Reveal After about five months of renovation, their home was ready for its big reveal.

Entryway & Dining Area To accommodate their bulky items, Stephanie cleverly designed a partial-height storage room right at the entrance. It's like a superhero's closet - everything goes in, and voilà, clutter-free! The dining area, formerly dominated by a bulky beam, now boasts a double-arched ceiling, softening the ambiance and blending in both of their preferred styles. The TV wall in the living room, with its mix of grey, wood, and black, creates a clean and inviting space.

Bedrooms and Bathroom The guest bedroom, now their primary sleeping quarters, is a haven of simplicity, with a gentle grey palette for a restful vibe. The main bathroom, reconfigured for better flow, has a warm, grey-tiled look.

Miss Hsu's Renovation Tips Their renovation journey was smooth compared to some horror stories from friends. Her advice? Choose your design firm wisely! Communicate, review their work, and make sure you click. After all, a home is where you spend a huge chunk of your life.

Life in Their New Home Since the renovation, Miss Hsu has become a homebody, cherishing each corner of her personally financed haven. She's immensely grateful to Stephanie and Centimeter Design for tailoring their home to their needs, making it a place they never want to leave. Here's to finding the right designer and enjoying a smooth renovation journey! 🥂🏠💖
