Ruined House to Nordic Woodland Retreat: A Stunning Transformation! 🌲🏡✨

🔨🌿 The Renovation Journey 🌿🔨

🏚️ Chapter 1: The Leap to Buy & Pre-Renovation Glimpse 🏚️ Dad and Mom, nature enthusiasts, ditched city life for an old house nestled in nature's lap. Despite its 'haunted house' vibe, we saw potential for a serene retirement haven, thanks to fresh air and picturesque views.

🖌️ Chapter 2: Finding the Designer 🖌️ Enter Ruoren Space Design, discovered through a design-savvy friend. Their young, polite, and sincere designer clicked with us instantly, sharing our love for vintage treasures. One quick chat and he was on board, nailing our vision in the first 3D mockup.

🛠️ Chapter 3: Our Reno Wishlist 🛠️ While primarily for the parents, the space had to accommodate family gatherings. A spacious living room, dining, and kitchen area, along with elderly-friendly bathrooms, were top priorities. Style-wise, we aimed for a cozy vibe with room for antique furnishings and just-right storage.

📐 Chapter 4: Floor Plan Magic 📐 We took a sledgehammer to the original layout. Besides two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, and bathroom on the first floor, we added a loft with two extra bedrooms, another bathroom, and a relaxing reading nook - perfect for family sleepovers!

Before and After Floor Plans

🌟 Chapter 5: Post-Renovation Tour 🌟

🛋️ Living Room Positioned for the best view and light, it's our fave spot for tea and chats. The first floor sports wood-tile flooring (because dampness who?), and the wood-clad slanted ceiling adds a cozy cabin feel.

No TV wall here – we're all about that clean, sleek look.

A dash of daffodil yellow on the sofa wall brings warmth to the room.

🍽️ Dining Room Our vintage wood table, a flea market gem, fits perfectly. We're planning to add a pendant light to jazz it up.

Yellow lighting sets a nostalgic mood.

🍳 Kitchen Open-plan, so cooking becomes a social affair. The island doubles as a prep and bar area. A wooden lattice screen next to it cleverly resolves the feng shui no-no of the kitchen facing the bedroom, maintaining light flow without feeling cramped.

Green cabinets and island for a fresh vibe, with wider tile gaps and red grouting for a vintage feel.

🪜 Staircase Solid wood flooring for that warm, sturdy feel, supported by iron for extra safety.

🏠 2F Leisure Area Our secret lair! It's a play zone for the kids, and a chill-out area for reading or napping on the lazy sofa.

Open railings let light dance through, keeping it airy.

Ultra-durable wood flooring for the win.

Wall-mounted shelves double as a desk or display space.

🛌 Bedrooms Mine's simple - just a bed and some nifty storage cabinets.

Opening the wooden door feels like entering a Hobbit hole (LOL).

🚿 Bathrooms The master bath, with its wet and dry zones and bathtub, lets Dad soak up the view. It's dressed in vintage dark green tiles for a serene vibe.

The vanity sports classic Taiwanese green marble.

The guest bathroom, snug under a low ceiling, is all about the essentials.

💭 Chapter 6: Reflections on the Makeover 💭 Trusting the pros, we gave the designer creative freedom while voicing our preferences. The result? A home that exceeded expectations. The parents, initially not involved in the discussions, are over the moon with their new haven. Dad was especially eager to move in, and they've been loving it for about six months now.

So, from a decrepit dwelling to a Nordic nirvana, this has been one heck of a transformation! 🌟🍃🏠
