Smart Space Utilization in a 19-Ping Apartment: A Case Study of Modern Elegance

In the quest for a relaxed, slow-paced lifestyle in their retirement, a couple sought to redesign their 19-ping apartment into a cozy, functional space for their family of four. Entrusting the renovation to the adept hands of Siwei Design, they envisioned a home that could comfortably accommodate their two children who frequently visit from school or work. Let's delve into how this compact space was transformed into a modern, minimalist haven.

1.Layout Adjustments:

  1. The original layout by the builder consisted of 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

  2. To maximize storage and living space, the master bedroom and a room near the kitchen were slightly recessed, allowing for built-in storage in the public areas.

2. Kitchen Transformation:

  • The initial kitchen design featured parallel counters with limited walking space, hindering usability.

  • By removing the dining room layout, the design team created a more functional and spacious kitchen with fluid movement.

3. Sleek Entrance:

  • The narrow entrance corridor was cleverly designed with ample shoe and coat storage, using suspended designs and layering to reduce a sense of crowding.

  • A large mirror on the opposite wall visually enlarges the space while offering a convenient spot for last-minute grooming checks.

4. Elegant Living Room:

  • The main wall is adorned with a light grey special paint, complemented by wall lights that enhance the serene atmosphere.

  • A white TV wall unit paired with a floating TV cabinet maintains the room’s minimalistic charm.

5. Practical Master Bedroom:

  • Prioritizing simplicity and essential functions, the master bedroom features a dressing area separated by sliding doors.

  • The room continues the aesthetic of the public areas with a soft grey wall, adding a subtle touch of variety.

6. Personalized Bedrooms:

  • The children's bedrooms are tailored to their tastes, with one featuring a retro-style red brick wall for a bold look and the other a quiet, subdued space for relaxation and study.

The thoughtful redesign by Siwei Design not only met the family's practical needs but also created an environment where each member could find their own comfortable niche. The final outcome is a testament to the possibility of living spaciously and contentedly even in a smaller home.
