Taoyuan's Chic Home Makeover: Where MUJI Meets Nordic Style🏠✨

🏡 The Journey to Our Dream Home 🌟

Finally, it's our turn to showcase our home makeover! After nearly 30 years, our aging home in Taoyuan, Taiwan, received a much-needed revamp. Thanks to Jing Yin Space Design, we transformed our cluttered, dim space into a bright and cozy abode, perfect for our growing family.

👶 Why We Moved Expecting our second child meant we needed more space. We wanted to stay close to grandma for help with the kids, so we chose a semi-finished property in Pu Xin. The place had great lighting and was conveniently close to mom's house. It had three bedrooms, which was perfect for giving each kid their own space in the future.

🔍 Finding the Right Design Company We reached out to several design firms but settled on Jing Yin Space Design for their flexible scheduling, smooth communication, and expertise in MUJI and Nordic styles. Our main requirements were:

  • MUJI and Nordic aesthetics (with a preference for dark wood tones)

  • Specific choices for TV units and dining tables

  • QS-3105 flooring

  • System cabinet door colors (dark wood and white)

  • Curved designs

  • Ample storage space

  • Closed kitchen design

📐 Design and Construction The designers maximized every inch for storage. I took a break from the discussions to give birth, but communication continued smoothly over the phone. Once I was back, we finalized the plans, and construction began swiftly.

🏗️ Construction Progress

  • Floor and tile protection

  • Air conditioning wiring

  • Ceiling woodwork

  • Siment paint for the TV wall

  • Whole room painting

  • System cabinets installation

  • Wood flooring

🚪 The Big Reveal: Moving In Every day, stepping into our home is a joy. The natural light perfectly complements our simple yet beautiful space.

  • TV wall: The light grey Siment paint turned out to be an excellent choice.

  • Dining storage cabinet: We love the deeper wood tones.

  • Curved elements in the cabinet doors add a touch of elegance.

  • The kitchen, transformed from an open layout, now has a partition and glass door, solving feng shui concerns and containing cooking fumes.

👧 A Warm Haven for Our Daughter Our daughter adores the new environment, calling it warm and pretty.

  • The master bedroom follows a minimalist theme.

  • Bedhead wall painted in "Wall Painting Grey" by DeLi, with a future spot for a dressing table.

  • The other side features a full-length wardrobe and bathroom.

👫 Final Thoughts We left the other two bedrooms for future customization based on our children's preferences. The entire renovation, from construction to moving in, took about three months, a challenging feat with a newborn. Every detail in our home is a labor of love, a testament to our collaboration with the designer.
