Hello, lovely community! Ever wondered how a couple's shared dream and relentless effort can transform a space into a cozy, Japanese-inspired abode? Today, I'm thrilled to open the doors to our 23-ping haven of peace and harmony. Join me as I walk you through our journey of creating a space where every corner tells a story of love, dreams, and meticulous planning.
The Journey Begins: From our humble beginnings in a rented apartment to saving diligently for our first home, our goal was clear: to find a space that could comfortably accommodate our family of four (plus a feline friend!), ensuring ample room for growth, light, and warmth. Our quest led us to a 26-ping old house begging for a transformation.
Choosing Our Design Wizards: Our quest for the perfect design team was akin to finding a needle in a haystack. After browsing countless portfolios and engaging in discussions with various firms, we were drawn to the serene and minimalist works of 居然空間設計 (Jiran Space Design). Their approach resonated with us, promising a collaboration free of pressure and full of creativity.
Our Heartfelt Wishlist: Armed with a presentation (yes, we went all out!), we laid out our vision:
Ample storage for our worldly belongings.
A bright, warm color palette to breathe life into our space.
A serene study room for work and relaxation.
A functional kitchen and dining area for our culinary adventures.
And, of course, a touch of Japanese aesthetics with wooden grilles and soft, inviting textures.
Memorable Moments in the Making: Our hectic schedules meant we couldn't oversee the renovations personally, but the design team's regular photo updates kept us in the loop, reassuring us every step of the way. Their patience, attention to detail, and commitment to bringing our vision to life were truly remarkable.
Before & After: From a cramped, dark space to a light-filled, airy haven, our home underwent a metamorphosis. The once intrusive beams and ceilings were skillfully camouflaged, and the disjointed layout was reimagined to create a flow that felt natural and unforced.
Our Favorite Corners:
The Living Room: The heart of our home, where Japanese minimalism meets modern comfort. The translucent glass screens add a touch of elegance while ensuring privacy and fluidity between spaces.
The Study: A tranquil nook bathed in natural light, perfect for unwinding with a book or catching up on work. The clever use of space under the beams for storage and the playful addition of a cat scratching post reflect the thoughtfulness of the design.
The Dining Area: Simple yet functional, with a nod to Japanese simplicity. The dining cabinet not only serves as storage for our cherished tea sets and snacks but also as a home for our beloved coffee machine.
Living the Dream: Every day in our new home is a reminder of what we've achieved together. The thoughtful details, from the custom-fit storage to the strategically placed outlets, make daily life a breeze. Our friends' admiration for our space is the cherry on top of this rewarding journey.
If We Could Do It All Over Again: Our only wish? Perhaps more outlets near the TV area and drawer storage in the shoe cabinet for those little bits and bobs. But these are mere afterthoughts in what has been a near-perfect journey.
In Closing: Our first home is more than just a space; it's a testament to our shared dreams and hard work. Here's to hoping it brings us even more joy, success, and perhaps a new addition to our family. Having a place to call our own is truly a blessing. 🍵🌱
